Day 1
Departure from the UK to Windhoek.
Day 2
Arrival at Windhoek International airport, where you will be met by your guide. Take a city tour, where modern Africa blends with history. Overnight in Windhoek.
Day 3
Today drive into the red dunes of the Kalahari Desert, for an overnight.
Days 4 and 5
Further south the routing takes you via Maltahöhe into the low plains of the Namib Desert. Early morning visit to Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by some of the highest sand dunes in the world, which is filled with water in years of good rainfall. Visit the Sesriem Canyon; it is said that the canyon got its name during the time of the ox wagon, when a person had to use six harnesses to haul water from the bottom of the canyon.
Days 6 and 7
The route takes you north via the Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund. Highlights en route include a drive to the ‘Moon Landscape’ and the ancient desert plant, ‘Welwitschia mirabilis’. This is a quaint desert town with its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by desert and sea. Morning dolphin cruise on the Walvis Bay Lagoon.
Days 8 and 9
Departure from Swakopmund along the Atlantic Coast, heading north to Henties Bay and onwards to the seal colony at Cape Cross. The journey continues via Ugabmund to the southern Skeleton Coast Park to inspect a shipwreck.
Then experience the harsh transition from the Namib Desert to the Damaraland highlands, with its impressive landscape and rugged valleys. A highlight of your stay will be the rhino tracking excursion.
Days 10 and 11
Travel via the Grootberg Pass to Kamanjab and further to Etosha National Park, a magical wilderness experience. Discover the mysteries of the African bush in Etosha National Park whilst travelling in an easterly direction through the park. Spend the day on game drives in the park and visit the numerous waterholes that attract a diversity of animal and bird species, many endemic to the country.
