In the malaria-free Eastern Cape lies the 22,000 hectare Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, a pristine wilderness and scenic landscape. Comprised of just twenty-six rooms across five individual and distinct safari lodges and villas, Kwandwe is renowned for quality guiding and understated luxury.
Twice daily game drives, nature walks accompanied by an armed ranger,
big game walking safaris (tracking white rhino, black rhino, elephant and buffalo on foot, accompanied by an armed specialist ranger and tracker team) are all included in your stay.
Great Fish River Lodge is set along the lush green banks of the river after which the lodge is named, with expansive viewing decks and fine furnishings. The nine suites boast indoor and outdoor showers, and floor-to-ceiling doors fold back onto a spacious thatched verandah with private plunge pool.
Vibrant Ecca Lodge is also blessed with breathtaking views. The six spacious suites, of which 3 are dedicated to families, each have a private deck and plunge pool. Furnishings combine the colours and textures of the African people. Communal areas include an expansive viewing deck, swimming pool and children’s play centre.
Three exclusive use houses offer the perfect escape for a family safari or a group of friends travelling together, with the services of dedicated chefs, butlers, rangers and trackers:
Melton Manor is an exclusive-use villa, beautifully positioned to overlook the valley. There is an extensive children’s programme, allowing quality time with family and close friends, with relaxing siestas around the swimming pool and central courtyard.
Uplands Homestead offers a private safari experience for the sole use of families and parties of up to six. This elegant 1905 farmhouse has been lovingly restored, striking a mix between the genteel and the wild. There is a swimming pool and gazebo set amongst rolling lawns.
Featuring two master bedrooms and two twin suites, spacious relaxation and entertainment areas, Fort House comfortably sleeps families of up to eight. Peruse the wine cellar, help yourself to a snack from the guest pantry, spend some quiet time in the study or enjoy a massage in the spa treatment room.
