The 10 000 hectare malaria-free 'Big 5' Kariega Game Reserve is set in the pristine wilderness of the Kariega and Bushmans River Valleys, in the heart
of 1820 Settler Country. Enjoy the magic of Africa in one of five diverse lodges, all combining game-viewing with an expansive variety of fauna, flora and birdlife in a landscape that spans five ecosystems, offering dramatic views and vistas. In addition to unforgettable game-viewing from open vehicles, the Kariega experience offers a diversity of activities, which include guided bush walks, river cruises, canoeing, fishing, spa and gym.
Settlers Drift offers a luxury tented safari experience in a stunning setting, strung out on a ridge in a secluded area of the reserve, overlooking the Bushman's River. Enjoy a traditional safari, blending an Afro-Chic atmosphere with contemporary design for absolute comfort and relaxation. The tented suites, each have a panoramic view of the plains below.
Ukhozi Lodge truly captures the romance and intimacy of Africa. Sculptured from wood, stone and glass, this stylish lodge nestles subtly into the surrounding landscape. Meandering bush paths connect the luxurious suites crafted from log, each with a private plunge pool and deck with breathtaking views and vistas
River Lodge meanders along the banks of the Bushman’s River surrounded by rugged, hilly bushveld. The spacious, thatched suites are nestled amongst river vegetation, offering private viewing patios with tranquil river views.
The double volume thatched guest area opens onto a large deck overhanging the river offering spectacular views.
Main Lodge is a comfortable safari lodge, expertly integrated with the surroundings, nestling on top of a hillside with views across the valley.
All chalets have a lounge and fireplace, opening onto a private viewing deck (some have a plunge pool). The lodge offers a relaxed and friendly environment.
The Homestead is a sole use lodge which offers up to 14 guests all the comfort and convenience of their own home in the bush. With a dedicated game ranger and chef, guests have the flexibility to plan their day according to their own specific needs.
