SOUTH AFRICA
CAPE TOWN > HERMANUS > CAPE WINELANDS
Cape, Wine and Whales
10 nights
Departs from the UK every day
Day 1
Overnight flight from the UK to Cape Town.
Day 2-5
On arrival into Cape Town International Airport you will be met and transferred to your first hotel/guesthouse for your 4-night stay. Enjoy the attractions of one of the world’s most spectacular cities at your own pace, including Table Mountain; the V&A Waterfront; Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens; the Cape of Good Hope; Robben Island, and many more. Cape Town is also
a centre for adventure, exciting cuisine, shopping and some serious nightlife.
Day 6-8
Approximately 2 hours spectacular coastal drive to the south is the Cape South Coast and the charming town of Hermanus. From June to November this is an ideal area from which to see the Southern Right Whales that come into the warmer waters to calve. Outside this season one can experience the peaceful beaches & coastline, or visit nearby Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa, the quaint fishing village of Arniston or De Hoop Nature Reserve.
This is also an ideal base from which to enjoy the many other marine experiences available. Travel to a nearby island for huge colonies of sea birds and delight in the behaviour of the 60 000 strong Cape Fur Seal colony.
This area is also the habitat of the awesome great white sharks – you can view them from the safety of a boat or for the more adventurous be lowered in a cage to get a close up view!
Day 9-11
This morning after breakfast you will be collected for another spectacular drive, over the Franschhoek Pass and into the Franschhoek Valley in the winelands for a 3-night stay. Franschhoek is a town dedicated to tourism and the centre of a varied wine route. Visit some of the many estates for picnics, wine-tastings and cellar tours.
There are many estates involved in the production of much more than just wine - sparkling wines, brandy, cheese and olive oil are all produced in this beautiful area of The Cape. Franschhoek has also established itself as one of the gourmet capitals of South Africa, with a large and varied selection of restaurants, so mealtimes should be an event in themselves.
Day 12
You will be collected and returned to Cape Town airport in time for your return flight to the UK.
Tailpiece ...
Depending on traffic and weather conditions on Day 6, the drive may take an alternative route. A self-drive version of this itinerary is also available and will reduce the overall price.

Whenever you decide to go this is a relaxed holiday in stunning surroundings,
with an amazing amount of variety on offer. June to November is the whale watching season in South Africa, August and September is when the Spring flowers are in bloom. This is not a tour, but a multi-centre itinerary, with private road transfers between each of the three towns and cities, none longer than 2 hours. We have selected hotels/guesthouses in each place that are centrally located,
with a good choice of restaurants nearby.
