TANZANIA
TARANGIRE/LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK > SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK > NGORONGORO CRATER
Classic Tanzania Safari
7 nights
One of the best safaris you will ever go on, to some of the most famous and game-rich areas of Africa. This itinerary is a sample, albeit our most popular in Tanzania. There are many variations on the same theme - longer, shorter, group departures, super luxury, fly-ins - the options are myriad so please contact us for your tailor-made quote.
After the excitement and activity of a safari, Zanzibar and Pemba Island are popular beach extensions - unwind with a cocktail in hand by the azure seas of the Indian Ocean. We can also offer Mauritius, Seychelles or some of the smaller Tanzania islands such as Mafia or Fanjove.
Day 1
Overnight at the Kibo Palace Hotel in Arusha.
Days 2-3
You will be met this mornng by your driver/guide for the start of your safari, and transferred in your customised 4x4 safari vehicle to Maramboi Tented Camp for a 2 night stay. Maramboi Tented Camp is ideally placed to explore the ecosystems of both Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Park.
Days 4-6
Today sees you heading for the world famous (and we don’t say that lightly) Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s truly great safari destinations. Your home for the next 3 nights is Kati Kati Tented Camp, a permanent camp, in a mobile camp style. The camp is well located in Central Serengeti to access the vast Serengeti Plains, and from June to November where the greatest concentration of animals can be found. The camp offers comfortable accommodation and a unique opportunity to enjoy a traditional safari camp experience.
The Serengeti hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, and is home to one of the great wonders of the natural world, the Great Migration. Over a million wildebeest and some 600,000 zebra move through the eco-system, with lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wild dog and crocodiles making sure only the strongest survive. The sheer volume of numbers combined with the daily dramas of life and death make this an unforgettable experience.
Day 7
Continue on to Kitela Lodge in the Karatu region, an exclusive lodge situated on top of a valley overlooking a coffee plantation, the Eastern wall of the Ngorongoro crater and a beautiful waterfall, affording visitors a different, 'non-safari' perspective on Tanzania. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is close to the Lodge and after a short drive you will reach the edge of the crater (altitude 2,300m) and then enjoy a crater tour. With a diameter of 19 kilometres the abundant wildlife
feeds on the grazing grounds and the groundwater of the crater floor. And where there are grazers, there are predators!
Day 8
Your safari ends today in Arusha or Kilimanjaro from where you can continue your journey.
