Key Facts
Uganda, dubbed the Pearl of Africa, boasts
an ecological diversity that rivals many larger
countries. Bordered by the mountains, Africa’s
largest lake, Lake Victoria, it’s a beautiful country
bursting with bird and wildlife. In no other African destination can you see such a variety of primates with so little effort. For most the highlight is found amongst the forests in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where coming face to face with Endangered Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat is one of the most profound wildlife encounters you will ever experience.
Day 1
Overnight Entebbe.
Day 2
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the richest ecosystems in East Africa and home to over 120 mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies and 160 species of trees.
The park contains an estimated one half of the world’s population of the endangered Mountain Gorilla, making it an extremely valuable conservation site.
Days 3-4
It’s up early today as one of the most enthralling wildlife experiences imaginable awaits your discovery. Coming face to face with an endangered mountain gorilla is something words cannot aptly describe. Please note that gorilla trekking is strenuous, with treks ranging from 45 mins up to eight hours, at high altitudes in hot African conditions. Although sightings cannot be guaranteed, viewing success rates are well over 95%. Those with additional pre-purchased permits will depart for a second gorilla tracking experience. Guests not tracking have the day free to explore
the Bwindi area.
Days 5-6
Continue this morning onto southern Queen Elizabeth National Park, with a brief stop en-route at the Ishasha Community Uplift project. Immerse yourself in Agartha’s ‘Taste of Uganda’ tour - an interactive experience for the inquisitive visitor who wonders how a rural Ugandan woman lives. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife including Elephants, Leopard, Lions, Hippos, Buffalo and many species of birds.
Day 7
Enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a haven for numerous birds, including many migratory species as they make their way south to warmer climates.
Days 8-9
Depart early this morning to Kyambura Gorge to enjoy Chimpanzee trekking. A fun photo stop as you cross the Equator can be squeezed in. Your Kibale Forest chimp trek will generally take place in the morning.
Day 10
Depart after an early breakfast for the drive back to Entebbe, arriving back late afternoon.
