WESTERN CAPE AND NORTHERN CAPE > SOUTH AFRICA
The Spring Flowers
In the South African spring, peaking over August and September, a brilliant array of diverse
ild flowers transforms the semi-arid West Coast landscape into an unforgettable scene
of exceptional beauty. You can witness these floral displays in a variety of ways, an extraordinary spectacle of nature.
From Cape Town you can travel north in your own vehicle, or as part of a guided tour, to the Cape Floral Kingdom. Areas to visit include the Postberg Nature Reserve, part of the West Coast National Park, a flower conservancy only open to visitors during the flower season.
From Vredendal head for the interior region of Nieuwoudtville, where the wild flowers form
an extraordinary carpet of many colours. The Ramskop Nature Reserve at Clanwilliam,
with its 250 different species of flora, is another option.
Flower Season at South African National Parks includes Agulhas, Bontebok, Namaqua and Tankwa Karoo. There are annual flower shows in Hopefield, Clanwilliam, Darling, Hermanus, Betty's Bay and others. And of course Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town hosts two free daily walks, led by The Botanical Society's volunteer garden guides.

NORTHERN CAPE PROVINCE > SOUTH AFRICA
Tswalu Kalahari
Sophisticated - Secluded - Game Lodge
Tswalu Kalahari is South Africa’s largest private game reserve, over 110,000 hectares of spectacular grasslands and mountains against the dramatic backdrop of the Korannaberg Mountains, with just two lodges. That means no more than 30 guests at any one time can discover the beauty of this arid savannah, its diverse wildlife and the serenity of one one of South Africa’s great wilderness areas. Tswalu Motse & Tarkuni fuse contemporary comfort with traditional African style. Game drive, or walk through the Kalahari biosphere, inhabited by the rare desert-adapted black rhino, meerkat colonies, pangolin and brown hyena.
