The main Kwena Lodge has a chic open-plan lounge and bar, opening out to the large pool area, and there is also a traditional boma.
The 14 thatched & domed Kwena Huts are a modern take on traditional Khoi-San dwellings, opening onto shaded decks overlooking two waterholes, the valley and mountains. Kids of all ages can join the ‘Junior Ranger Program’, while you are pampered at the Africology Spa - open air treatments are an option!

Gondwana Game Reserve on the Garden Route, is inland from Mossel Bay, 4 hours drive from Cape Town & just 1 hour from George Airport. Activities on this 11 000-hectare malaria-free “Big 5” reserve include classic game drives in customised open 4x4 safari vehicles, horse-back safaris and guided nature walks.
Separate from the main camp are a selection of large and luxurious 3 and 4-bedroom Villas, ideal for families and small groups, on a catered or self-catering basis. The Fynbos Villas are close to the main Kwena Lodge for all meals, game drives and use of the Spa; the Bush Villas are further into the reserve and you are required to drive to one of the lodges for meals and activities.
Imagine a luxuriously spacious and stylish African villa with your own safari Guide, Chef and Butler. Ulubisi House is just that, situated in the reserve’s 1,000 hectare walking area, surrounded by grasslands teeming with game. Three luxurious guest suites, with endless views, provide accommodation for up to 8 people. Facilities include a pool and jacuzzi/hot tub with deck area, private chef and private butler - this is the way to do a safari!
A 3 or 5 night conservation experience for individuals, families or groups who want to get more involved in Africa on their safari is available at the Tented Eco Camp. Participants will be involved in wildlife and veld (bush) management, learning bush skills and interpretation, with the research and findings used by Gondwana’s conservation department. The itinerary includes game drives and bush walks. This is your chance to get involved with the important conservation work of a Big Five game reserve, and not only enjoy but contribute. Starts on a Thursday.
