8 Days - 7 Nights
Day 1
On arrival into Réunion collect your rental car and using the detailed directions provided take the short and scenic drive (approx. 1 hour) to Sainte-Anne for a 2-night stay. The Piton de la Fournaise (‘peak of the furnace’) is one of the world's most active and accessible volcanoes, and one of the islands main attractions. With plenty of hiking routes, horse-riding trails, and 4x4 trails, you can reach the site in a normal rental car, or on foot, with well marked paths.
Day 3
Saint-Pierre is a port town on the southwestern coast. Lively cafes and restaurants line its waterfront, notable landmarks include the 18th- century Town Hall, and a museum chronicling the history of rum production on the island. Terre Sainte, a fishing village, is southeast
of the town.
Day 4
After Breakfast self-drive to Cilaos, via a mountain road with a reputed 400+ bends, taking you up to the high valley and the Cirque De Cilaos island (Cirque > Caldera > Collapsed Volcanic Crater), and the heart of the Island. This charming and scenic village is known for its thermal springs, the local cuisine and some fine scenery. Dominated by the massive Piton des Neiges, which rises to 3,071m, this Creole high mountain village is the gateway to nearly 80 km of trails which are scattered around the cirque, including hikes to the Piton des Neiges, the roof of the Indian Ocean.
Days 5-7
After the activity and travelling of the previous few days you will now head to Saint-Leu on the west coast and Réunion's mini-Riviera! The town’s beach is known as a surf and paragliding hub.
Day 8
Drop your rental car at Roland Garros Airport today in time for your onward flight/travel arrangements.
Other options include: a 7 night activity & adventure itinerary including paragliding, hiking, climbing, rafting, canyonning, body surfing and windsurfing; a 7 night hiking and biking itinerary; 8 and 14 night cross- island hiking adventures, staying in mountain huts for some of the nights; or a combination with nearby Mauritius.
